A rumination on ritual and knee-jerk reactions to crises, how we can too-easily become callous to horror.
Based on the bonfire societies of East Sussex, and in particular the annual bonfire in Rye where a boat is the totem on top of the pyre. It’s a familiar scene even though I’ve taken liberties with the setting and the participants.
