Let Go
Let Go
2019, 57x76cm, ink on paper, framed
‘Let Go’ is a piece designed to examine the rarely changing makeup of the power brokers in small town England. Single families can have half a millennia of decision making all to themselves and while it can provide a measure of stability there can be a sense of stasis and ossification. Let Go shows the seasons passing and decay setting in to the less-loved parts of one of these towns, just as a conflagration takes hold in the main part. Or is it several fires over several decades? Are there four crows fighting or two, a split-second apart? The main idea is that these places are not immutable and change will come. Priorities will change and the society that moulds them will have to make hard decisions in the face of powers out of their control.
