Fang, 2021, charcoal on paper, 65×150cm, framed
North of Rye is the village of Iden, and in a field to the east of the village there resides a powerful but ruined oak. Like a holed megalith it peers at you as you approach along the footpath. It seems to stretch up over hedges to peep at you. Presumably the oak was once hit by lightning and died where it stood. Now it has an ethereal power to it. I love this ruined tree and have depicted it several times before, but never at this scale.
Due to the size and weight and glazing of this piece I am unwilling to post or courier it. Collection only for this one.
