A housing crisis

Chittenden's Cottage is a small ruined homestead on farmland near Camber, East Sussex. The condition of the cottage struck me with sadness at its lost potential. Stumbling through the ruin I reflected on the buildings we allow to decline when so many people are homeless and so much land is swallowed by new development of dubious quality and character. A sustainable future must re-use materials and land we already have, and not expend ever more energy upsetting new landscapes. This is a lament for all dilapidated buildings.
